Sketty is a well-known residential area to the West of Swansea City Centre. The area has a nice community feel about it with a mixture of housing from Victorian through to the modern day. The area is located round Sketty Cross which is where the main west route out of the city crosses the ring road going down to the beach. It is about a mile from Swansea University. There is a nice selection of local shops, pubs and banks, and it is generally considered to be a nice place to live.
It is on the major bus routes to town, and there is easy access to Swansea University across Singleton Park and to Swansea Met, which can be reached by heading directly into town or by going over the top of Townhill to avoid the worst of the traffic.
There are plenty of places to eat with a mixture of upmarket restaurants and take-aways. It makes it a popular place for students to live, to eat and to be entertained. Its popularity is on the increase as it has the advantage of offering everything you could need in one place while still being close to both universities
Shops you can find there include convenience stores such as Sainsbury’s and Tesco, a Post Office, banks, second hand stores, hairdressers and a range of local shops. It is home to the Vivian Arms (the “Vivs”), a popular pub in the evening and at weekends.
