Location

Located in a busy student area of the city, you only need to walk down the hill to get to the famous St Helens rugby and cricket ground, and the popular Cricketers pub. There is good shopping in easy walking distance in the Brynymor Road and St Helens Road area, where you can find a mixture of restaurants, take-aways, pubs and convenience stores.

The sea front of Swansea Bay is a short walk from the house.

Distance from Swansea University

Car - Approx 1.3 miles or 6 minutes by car along King Edward's Road and Francis Street to Mumbles Road.

Walk - The walk is about 0.8 miles, so 15 or 16 minutes along Brynmill Crescent and Bryn Road, from where you have a choice to cut across Singleton Park to the Singleton Abbey entrance, or you can continue along the Mumbles Road.

Distance from University of Wales, Trinity St David’s, Swansea

Car - 2.0 miles to 2.5 miles depending which route you choose, so 7 to 10 minutes. If you work your way down Finsbury Terrace, and Gorse Lane to the Mumbles Road, you can then pick up the Guildhall Road, St Helens Road and Kingsway route into the city, and then it is a short cut across the one way system to find your way up to the Mount Pleasant campus.

Walk - Go down Finsbury Terrace till you reach the junction with King Edward's Road, and then turn towards town. You can cut across Catherine Street, Phillips Parade and Duke Street to get up to Walter Road. From here you can choose to carry on to the bottom of Mount Pleasant, or to cut across the various streets above Walter Road (Hanover Street and Heathfield).

Brynmill

Brynmill, with its mix of terraced houses, has long been the main student area for Swansea. Apart from students, it is mainly a middle class family area, chosen for its local schools and its convenience for the city centre and for the university. The walk to the university takes 10 to 15 minutes and the city is about 20 minutes away on foot. Several bus routes pass through here as well.

Composed mainly of Victorian and Edwardian housing, the area is hilly, but it includes good local shopping, in particular the shops of Bryn y Mor road. The Guildhall, St Helens Rugby and Cricket Ground, are important local features, and there are local churches and two parks in the area. There is no shortage of cafes, bars and restaurants serving everything from fast food to fine eating.
